Mr. Narayan MurthyMr. N. R. Narayana Murthy Chairman of the IIIT-B Board is the Chairman and Chief Mentor of Infosys, the iconic Indian IT services company. He founded Infosys in 1981 along with six other software professionals and served as the CEO for 20 years. Under his leadership Infosys was listed on NASDAQ in 1999.

Mr. Murthy is a member of the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, Cornell University Board of Trustees, Singapore Management University Board of Trustees, INSEAD's Board of Directors and the Asian Institute of Management's Board of Governors. He is also a member of the Advisory Boards and Councils of various well-known universities - such as the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Corporate Governance initiative at the Harvard Business School, Yale University and the University of Tokyo's President's Council.

Mr. Murthy serves as an independent director on the board of the DBS Bank, Singapore, the largest government-owned bank in Singapore and on the boards of Unilever, NV and Unilever, plc.

Mr. Murthy serves as a member of the Prime Minister's Council on Trade and Industry. He is an IT advisor to several Asian countries. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of TiE Inc., a worldwide network of entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship.

Mr. Murthy is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. The Economist ranked him 8th among the top 15 most admired global leaders (2005). He was ranked 28th among the world's most-respected business leaders by the Financial Times (2005). TIME magazine's "Global Tech Influentials" list (August 2004) named Mr. Murthy as one of the ten leaders who are helping shape the future of technology. He was voted the World Entrepreneur of the Year - 2003 by Ernst and Young. He was one of two people named as Asia's Businessmen of the Year for 2003 by Fortune magazine. In 2001. He was named by TIME/CNN as one of the 25 most influential global executives. In 1999, BusinessWeek named him one of their nine Entrepreneurs of the Year, and he was featured in Business Week's 'The Stars of Asia' for three successive years - 1998, 1999 and 2000. He topped the Economic Times Corporate Dossier list of India's most powerful CEOs for two consecutive years - 2004 and 2005.

Mr. Murthy holds a B.E. from the University of Mysore and an M.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has been conferred honorary doctorates by well-known universities in India and abroad.

Prof. Pankaj ChandraProf. Pankaj Chandra, is the Director of the renowned Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) and a Professor in Production and Operation Management. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (first division with Honors) from Banaras Hindu University and a PhD from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvanis, USA. Before joining IIM Bangalore, Prof Chandra was a Professor of IIM Ahmedabad. His area of specialization is Supply Chain Coordination, Manufacturing Management, Technology Networks and Building Technological Capabilities in Manufacturing.

Ms. Neelam DhawanMs. Neelam Dhawan is the Managing Director of Hewlett-Packard India. She has countrywide responsibility for revenues, profitability and ensuring the greatest leverage from HP’s Services, Personal Systems and Imaging & Printing businesses.

With a portfolio that extends to offshore activities, BPO, Software Engineering, Research and IT Services, Neelam is focused on shaping the company’s overall business agenda and leading its strategy and corporate development efforts to make HP the most admired company in India.

Previously, Neelam was the Managing Director of Microsoft India, a position she held from 2005 to 2008. During her tenure, she sharpened Microsoft’s strategic focus and improved its operating efficiency and execution, as well as its financial performance and customer focus. Prior to this assignment, Neelam held a variety of successful leadership positions in leading Indian IT companies, including HCL and IBM.

Neelam holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St.Stephen’s College, New Delhi, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University.

Gautam HegdeMr. Gautam Hegde is the Managing Director of Backend Bangalore Pvt Ltd is an engineer entrepreneur with a rich academic and industry background. Jitendra MalikProfessor Jitendra Malik is a Professor in the Computer Science Division, Department of EECS, University of California at Berkeley and a member of the Cognitive Science and Vision Science groups at UC Berkeley. He was the departmental Chair till June 2006.

Professor Malik's research interests are in computer vision and computational modeling of human vision. He has authored more than 90 research papers on these topics. He received a gold medal for the best graduating student in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1980, a Presidential Young Investigator Award in 1989, and the Rosenbaum Fellowship for the Computer Vision Program at the Newton Institute of Mathematical Sciences, University of Cambridge in 1993. In 2000, he received the Diane S. McEntyre Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Computer Science Division, University of California at Berkeley.

Professor Malik is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Computer Vision.

Professor Malik received the B. Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and the PhD degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Mr. Som MittalMr. Som Mittal has over 32 years working experience, of which the last 18 years have been in the IT industry. He has been Managing Director of Digital/Compaq and chief executive with Wipro.

Besides being actively associated with Nasscom (he was even its chairman in 2003-04), he has been closely associated with other industry bodies like MAIT and CII. He was directly involved with the formulation and implementation of Karnataka's IT policy.

He has been on the CII National Council for several years and on the chief ministers' IT Task Force. He is also the founding member of the IIIT, Bangalore and the Board of IT Education Standards.

B.V. NaiduMr. B.V. Naidu is the Group CEO of VANPIC and Vice Chairman, Matrix Exports, Hyberbad. Previously, he was the Managing Director of SemIndia Systems Ltd, located in Bangalore India. Prior to joining SemIndia, Mr. Naidu was the Director of Software Technology Parks of India, Bangalore. Under his leadership STPI, Bangalore has grown to become one of India's finest technology parks and the biggest. Mr. Naidu has played a key role in IT infrastructure in Bangalore in addition to facilitating the IT industry as a whole. Mr. Naidu started off as an R&D Engineer in Education and Research Network (ERNET) project of the Government of India.

Mr. Naidu is a member of the Karnataka Chief Minister's Task Force on Information Technology, Founder Member of IIIT-B, Founder Member of Karnataka IT Fund and a Charter Member of TiE, Bangalore.

Mr. Naidu obtained his BE degree from Andhra University and his ME degree from the Madras Institute of Technology.

Ms. R RajalakshmiMs. R Rajalakshmi is the Director, STPI Bangalore & Development Commissioner - for IT/ITES SEZs in Karnataka. She is an Electronics and Telecom Engineer with added qualification in Computer Engineering and Radio Engineering. She has played a major role in promoting the Small and Medium Enterprises with participation in UNIDO-ITPO programme in building relationship between Indian and Japanese conmpanies. She has also been encouraging women professionals to enhance their share and sustainability in IT, a forum viz., (eWIT), "empowering Women in IT" was supported to encourage the women IT professionals. She has been given the additional responsibility as Development Commissioner of IT/ITES, SEZs under the Ministry of Commerce, Govt of India, w.e.f. 12.11.2007. With effect from June 2008, she has taken over the charge as Director, STPI Bangalore and Development Commissioner for IT/ITES SEZs in Karnataka.

Prof. SadagopanProf Sadagopan is the founder Director of the Institute from September 1999. He has taught at two premier educational Institutes in India, namely, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, (IITK) during 1980 - 1995 and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, (IIMB) during 1995-1999. He obtained his undergraduate engineering degree from Madras University and his Master's and Doctoral degrees from Purdue University, USA. He is a Fellow of the IEE, UK, Computer Society of India and the Institution of Engineers (India).

Mr. K. SubrahmaniamMr. K Subrahmaniam is an IT Industry veteran , currently advising many companies for their growth strategy and is also setting up new ventures in IT and non IT sectors. Mr Subrahmaniam was the President and Managing director of Computer Sciences Corporation in India (CSC) till April 2010, managing over 20,000 IT professionals across the globe. In 2007 CSC acquired Covansys and Mr Subrahmaniam was the President and CEO of Covansys India managing international business. He was promoted in 2003 to head Covansys India after more than nine years of successful service to the Company as the chief operating officer. Mr. Subrahmaniam led Covansys India to attain Level 5 SEI CMM certification in process maturity, and Level 5 of the PCMM. Under his leadership the company was ranked in the Best companies to work for Survey by Mercer Business-Today for three years in a row in 2005, 2006 and 2007 as well as in the top 15 Best Employers in India by the Hewitt survey of 2007.

Prior to Covansys, Mr. Subrahmaniam worked in the R&D division of one of India's premier telecommunications companies and was responsible for projects in areas of SCADA, embedded systems, network management systems, and telecom switching & transmission systems. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the acclaimed College of Engineering, Guindy (Madras University) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Adminstration from Annamalai University.

He has won many awards and recognitions like the IT People CEO of the year award in 2007, Import Substitution award from Elcina in early 90s.

M.N. VidyashankarMr. M N Vidyashankar, IAS, Secretary to Government, Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology.

Mr. Vidyashankar holds a M.A. Degree in Economics and M.Phil. from the Delhi School of Economics and a MBA from Harvard University, USA. He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1982 and served in different departments in the state government including Rural Development, Revenue, Animal Husbandry, Panchayat Raj, Agriculture and Energy. He also served in the Ministry of Personnel and Public Grievances, Government of India. He was Chairman BWSSB, Commissioner BDA and Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department.

Mr. Vidyashankar's areas of interest include downsizing, re-engineering, e-governance, business process outsourcing, customer relations and enterprise resource planning. Currently Mr. Vidyashankar is Secretary to Government, Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology.

Dr. Praveen VishakantaiahDr. Praveen Vishakantaiah, is a is the President - Intel India, Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd. Before taking over his current position he was the Director of the Digital Enterprise Group in India. He was responsible for functional management of the server microprocessor design, server chipset design and processor system validation groups in India, as well as overall operations and leadership development.

His responsibilities also include site management of other DEG India groups, and he has been actively involved in development of the broader Intel India site. Before relocating to India in 2003, Vishakantaiah was part of the microprocessor design His responsibilities also include site management of other DEG India groups, and he has been actively involved in development of the broader Intel India site. Before relocating to India in 2003, Vishakantaiah was part of the microprocessor design team contributing to the development of Pentium II, Pentium III and Pentium 4 microprocessors. In 1995, he was one of the winners of the first Intel Innovators award.
